Name: Carina Petrov
Age: 21
Apparent Age: 21ish
Gender: female
Hair: red
Eyes: blue-gray (there's some debate. They turn very light gray when she uses her powers.)
Appearance:
You just know she's about to loose her balance and fall through that wall behind her. Fortunately, when she phases, she becomes very light, so she can actually float down to earth.
Code Name: Evanescent
Powers: matter phasing. She can walk through walls/people/furniture, or sink through floors, or, if conditions are favorable, jump or climb through ceilings. One problem, loose clothing doesn't phase with her. Every square millimeter of the fabric has to be skintight, or it won't go. She frequently pops out of walls stark naked.
Background: Carina was born in Moscow, Russia, where she was homeschooled by her former Spetsnaz father. He was very strict, forcing her to maintain a strict diet and physical training regimen. He never taught her to fight, which was probably a good thing. If she tried to fight, she would probably end up killing herself. She was terribly uncoordinated, with the result that her father claimed she was worthless. Her mother disagreed, as Carina had what many claimed was the most beautiful singing voice they had ever heard. She turned fourteen and changed. That was also the day she ran away. Carina had been emotionally and verbally abused by her father from the moment she finally learned to walk a full year late. The girl would have run away sooner, but she was afraid. After all, her father was former special forces. When she did leave, she left a note on the bathroom mirror to her mother. Apparently, she couldn't put her hand through mirrors, so she broke one, and used the blood from that to write on the other. "I'm sorry, but I can't take any more pain from father. I'm leaving. I still love you, mom."
The girl fled westward through Europe, eventually learning how to remain solid off the ground, so she could climb steps or ramps, or, more importantly, board a boat without falling through the hull. She earned her keep mostly by singing on street corners. When she reached America and stumbled off the ship. (She swore her foot caught on one of the non-slip strips on the ramp) she found herself in a completely strange, and rather frightening situation. On the other hand, the pedestrians paid for her songs a lot better, so that was okay. Suppressing her memories of her father, she hid her abused self behind a happy-go-lucky persona that she carried off so well she usually fooled even herself. She lived on the street, writing her own songs in her head (in Russian, because it brought in more money) and surviving on a middle-school education.
Anything else you'd like to add: She's bi, and leans more toward girls.
Affiliate: Neutral
((I couldn't find any pg-13 banner-type pictures of her.))
