Courtney was walking in the grass in her own thoughts.. Not really noticing that it rained. The yard was empty and that was probably what had attracted her to go for a walk. she walked towards the end of the grounds near the forrest. She sat down on a wet bench close by. She sat there for a while as it started thundering. The animals was quiet in the forrest. Probably because of the thunder. She closed her eyes as a new lightning stroke across the sky. Again and again. Suddenly her mind bursted into pain as the whole forrest got filled with screaming birds. For any other person that her it just sounded like a flok of birds singing in the rain but for her it was a thousand cries and screams that ran through er head. She fell down from the bench in agony. She lied in the wet grass and held her hands on har head, she broke into a painful scream while the smoke rose from the forrest not long from where she was sitting. She heard the screams the cries for help over and over. Even the confused voices of fleeing animals. She still lied in the grass and screamed even tough the screams from her own voice was completly silent in her own head. She was in completly and utterly agony.

[green]Astrid was out enjoying the rain. It almost felt like home, the rain. Her face was lifted up, letting the water roll down her face. She'd always liked the rain better than the sun, except when she was sleeping on the streets of course. And then she'd preferred a bit of cloud mixed with sun. She'd eventually gone to the trees, to get a bit of respite from the rain. Due to her mood, she'd decided that her hair would be a pale blonde.
Then the thunder had started. And Astrid cursed her luck. The thunder was close, meaning that it wasn't safe to try and get back to the Building, but at the same time, it wasn't safe to be in the trees. So, doing what she could, she stayed there. Not bothering to even try and lit a cigarette, a habit she'd picked up on the streets.
She was sitting there, when she heard a hair-splitting scream. She was on her feet in a flash. She paused, listening. When it happened again, she followed the sound, quickly, almost at a run. Her eyes scanned the ground and area around her, trying to find the owner of the voice.
She found the person lying on the ground, screaming. Astrid quickly pulled on her gloves, not wanting to scratch the person. She knelt down, putting her hands on the woman's shoulders. Trying to get her voice heard over the woman's screams and thunder, "What's wrong?" As she didn't think it was due to fear of thunder that this woman was screaming.[/green]

Courtney felt the hand on her shoulder but the words said to her was far from what she heard. The voices, the pain and the thought that the animals needed help but she couldn't was making her shake all over. She had to be strong for a moment, she had to tell what was going on. She concentrated as much as she could, trying to block out the voices. It helped a bit but no near enought for her to be able to do anything. She opened her mouth and could only get few words out with a painful sound "Wood....ani....mal...hurt....help" She then stayed completly still just lying in the rain. She had used every last resource in her body and she didn't have the strength to fight it anymore. She let all the voices in and the pain took over and it became dark and silent.... complete silence.

[green]Astrid looked out at the woods, the fire was spreading fast, and her own gift could do nothing against the fire. And any skills that she had were for stealing and other unpleasantries, not skills that were easily useable in a forest that wasn't on fire. She had to move the woman before the fire started to go their way. She might not have anything to fight it, but growing up in a small town in BC meant that you knew the signs from a forest fire, and you knew how to take care of yourself and others.
Astrid started at the words, looking at the forest again, watching the birds flee into the sky. There were no animals near her that she could see, but...there could be some nearby.... No, her first priority was to the woman in front of her, who appeared to be uncoincious. The teen looked around, trying to gauge what would be the safest place to move the lady. There really was no where near. The most that she could do was move her to the lawn.
Astrid sighed, it had bene a while since she'd picked anyone older than her up, and Kiran didn't count. She carefully got ready to pick her up, making sure that her gloves were on properly and leaning the lady forward. "You're going to be fine, I'm just moving you closer to safety."
She stood up, the lady cradled in her arms. This is awkward... I hope that I don't drop her! She was carefully a few feet away from the forest, before going down onto her knees and letting the person down gently.[/green]

She woke up still painfull but the voices had moved. She reached for her pocket in a cramp like manner. She dug out an ipod and while she shook she got it turned on and pulled it towards her ears. when the earphones finally was in her ears after a little battle to get them inthere she closed her eyes and turned the music up until the voices was completly gone. The headache was dissapearing slowly. She sat up and looked at the person who had draged her over the lawn. She looked at the forrest and closed her eyes. Her powers couldn't stop the fire but it could surtainly bring the animals to a safe place for a little while. She opened her eyes for a while and said to the girl "Go get help it wont be long before the fire gets here. The rain is not nearly strong enought for stopping it. I'll take care of the animals" She would not be able to hear her answer so she just walked past her and towards the forrest. This would probably take the last powers she had in her but she could not let the animals be afraid of coming towards the school because of the humans and they would be trapped in the forrest. She closed her eyes again and made her mind flow towards the forrest saying "Come to me, you'll be safe here. Do not fear.!" Her mind saying the words over and over again. Hoping it wold work. One, two, three she counted the pair of eyes which was looking from the edge of the forrest. while the her mind kept calling.

[green] Astrid gave a start as the person suddenly moved and then put her headphones in and started listening to her ipod. But, Astrid wasn't staying to find out if the woman was alright. Listening to music was enough of an indicator, for the ex-street living young adult. It wasn't that she was trying to be mean or anything like that, by ignoring if the person was injured, but being the mutant that she was, Astrid was on the move. She couldn't just stay in one spot in a situation. The teen was preparing to head towards the forest when she heard a voice behind her.
She turned, a bland look on her face. She just saves this woman's life... and she's being ordered about as if she were a child!?!? But... she knew that the woman was preoccupied with the forest and the animals. With a nod, and "Good luck." Astrid started to lope across the lawn back to the house. Hopefully there would be someone to help. As 'Stri didn't know where Storm was. ((So... Once Astrid leaves she won't be able to come back, as I'm not going to god mode Storm or someone like that, and Remy would be no help, especially as how I'm seeing the timeline, she meets Remy for the first time on the jet and that hasn't happened yet. So unless you want Astrid to come back 'empty handed', so to speak, then, yeah, I don't know))[/green]
