Courtney had desided to spend the Weekend away from the mansion. Not because she didn't like it there but she felt like having a bit of her own time. The school was always crammed with people and the weekends where the classes wasn't on was especially filled with people all over the place. She like to be alone sometime and she was old enough to be allowed to leave the school as she wished. She had spend her friday afternoon in the city, windowshopping and going to cafés. The night was now dark and the stars shined from a cloudfree sky. She had felt like a walk and had left the hotel and just started walking in one derection. She had suddenly found herself near the beach and she automaticly walked towards the sounds of the waves. It was a cold evening and she didn't expect to see anyone walking along, it was way to cold. Courtney walked close to the edge of the waves as she looked around and began to take of her shoes and socks. She knew the water would be cold but she didn't really care the fresh salty water had somehow always seemed calming on her and just standing there in the cold water, she felt like nothing could touch her again. She walked a bit along the shore until she stopped and looked up into the sky before she moved back onto the dry sand and sat down while letting her toes play with the sand.

Suddenly there was something flying in the sky. It was big and flying at a fast speed as he flopped into the water. An explossion of water went into the air after he had landed purposely into the water. Folken was quite far from shore so he swam toward the shore.

Courtney got a bit of a chok at the sudden splash in the water. She kept her eyes at the horizon as she could see something swin towards the shore. She quietly got up and took her shoes and socks into her hand as she started walking to the left along the beach. She was calm now thinking that is was a mutant anything ells would just be plain odd. She sighed as she walked towards the water as she kicked it a bit. She didn't really mind him being there, but she just felt a little irritated because he had broken the silence and the peace she had been forming in her head. Now she just stood in the water waiting to see what he was trying to do.

Soon he was able to stand in the water. He stretched and shook a little as he was now one the sand. He cracked his neck and took a look around, his eye shot right to the woman since she was the only one besides himself in the area. He was kind of like a deer in the headlights, unsure of what to do.

Courtney send him a little smile as she noticed he looked at her. She looked at him for a little while. He looked like a thing between a bat and a devil, a gargoyle. She had the feeling that she most people, including herself would be affraid of something like this but she wasn't near the stage of fear. She was as calm as ever. She had seen a lot and Warrens ghosts had borther her in the start but after a short while she had gotten used to it and she thought that might be the reason why she was so calm now. She new that the skin could desive. She started walking towards him as she calmly said "That was quit a landing you had there" she smiled and stopped as she gazed into the sky once again.

"I agree, and the water was great." His eye's were fixated on her, for he didn't know whether to trust her or not. They did just meet and she could be trouble. Though she seemed to be a nice person but you never know.

She didn't know what to make of him, but she believed that if he wanted to hurt her, he would have done it allready. She smiled and said "The water has alwats made me feel so relaxed, I like it this time of the year, where people think it is too cold to go out, its peacefull." She steped out a little more, so the water started rushing over her jeans, she didn't really mind if felt so good. Somehow she liked him already, just the way he looked, well he looked scary but somekind of sympathic niceness layed around his apperence.

"Why aren't you afraid of me?" He found it quite shocking that she wasn't afraid of him. Most people would run away or attack him. But for some reason this woman wasn't the same as everyone else he's bumped into.

Courtney rised her eyebrows and answered calmly "Why should I? You haven't attacked me or something. Yeah well you look different, but believe me I've seen worse things. Skin isn't all you know" She looked at the stars and said "Something as beautiful as the star, I would never believe that something big and dark and empty was outthere. The same goes for us. There is more to us than our skin" She sighed and walked a little further out in the water before she put her hands down into the water and took up a small seaturtle, she stroke its back and whispered softly to it before she let it go again.

"If only, but the world an't to kind to someone like me if yeah know what I mean." He looked up at the sky and yawned a little as he looked at the stars. Folken tilted his head when he heard the last two sentences and it made him wonder. "Wait? Are you a mutant?"

Courtney laughed calmly and sweetly. She smiled and said "Yes I am, dont oyu think that I would have fled if I was not? I'm magica by the way, I can talk to animals." She walked towards him and reached her hand towards him, to interduce herself.

"How disappointing, I really thought you were the first human to actually accept me even if I look like this. But I should of known only a mutant would accept another mutant. That really makes me angry" He scratched the bat wing on his head along with a sighing noise and disappointed look on his face. "So your like a female doctor Doolittle?"

She was worried a short while. But it didn't show, she was good at hiding her own feelings. She smiled a little when he mentioned dr dolittle, i was kind of affending her a bit, she just pulled her shoulders a bit and gave him a little smile while saying "I guess so... and you'll be like one of the gargoyles following quasimodo?" she didn't mean to say the last bit, as she still didn't know him well enough to know if he knew she was just joking, it was kind of her way to tell him that he just affended her, she was always kind of defensive when it came to her powers.

"Is that suppose to offend me?" He smirked as one of his eyebrows raised. "Well your sadly mistaken because Gargoyle is actually my nickname and I don't follow a hump backed deformed man." He sighed looking out at the waves. "The ironic thing is, I actually do live on a church. The only reason I stay there is, one I can blend in, two no one can find me, and three I can actually sleep without someone attacking me while I sleep." He yawned as he sat down on the sand, he looked like he was going to fall asleep but he was trying vary hard to keep his eyes open.

Courtney walked towards him and sat down beside him and said "you look tired." she sighed and said "I know the feeling. Not that I had to live on a church to blend in. No not at all I usually kept to the forest. Used most of my childhood hiding there, from my brother. He... well wasn't the kindest person. Tried to kill me once." She looked over the sea, reliving the whole episode. She got chills down her spine. Maybe because of the story, but mostly because of the cold.
